I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L., Inc. Votes Dr. Sharae Meredith onto Board of Directors
BUFORD, Ga., December 19, 2017 – The Board of Directors of I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. announced the appointment of Dr. Sharae Meredith to the board of directors, effective immediately. Dr. Meredith’s appointment expands the Board to 6 directors.
Dr. Meredith is currently a Senior Research Scientist of Advanced Development Programs at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. Prior to becoming a Senior and Lead Research Scientist, Dr. Meredith worked as a Thermal Analyst of Environmental Control Systems for Northrop Grumman Corporation. She earned her Ph. D. in Aerospace Engineering from Penn State University, a Master of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Tuskegee University.
In addition to her extensive background in the engineering field, she has been awarded the Rising Star Award for the Women of Color Conference (2016), Lockheed Martin SPOT Award (2011, 2017), Lockheed Martin Special Recognition Award (2016), Lockheed Martin Patent Award (2016), as well as many other accomplishments.
“As a female aerospace engineer, Dr. Meredith brings myriad educational and professional experiences that will enable I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. to create more meaningful STEM learning experiences for the young women in our programs,” said Dr. Tina Woodard, Chief Executive Officer of I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Dr. Zenobia Edwards, Chief Financial Officer of I Am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. added, “We are fortunate to have someone like Dr. Meredith whose enthusiasm and passion inspire her to develop and support the next generation of females in STEM.”
Dr. Meredith stated, “There is current and future concern about the availability of skilled engineers for the workforce. This goes beyond simply holding a degree in an engineering discipline, but having an integrated problem solving capability that can transition from conceptual design to product build and application. In this vast field, women tend to be an underutilized resource. My goal is to pique the untapped fascination of young minds to the possibilities of what excitement awaits them in the exploration of a STEM career. I am excited that the “I am B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.” organization provides me with the opportunity to do just that!”
